Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Our neighborhood is nestled at the border of Portland and Beaverton, Oregon, among the tall pines, firs, and oaks that make up the West Slope Neighborhood. We are separated from Portland downtown by a tunnel through low mountains, so it feels very different than the big city. Yet we are only a 10-15 min drive or train ride to Portland, including Providence Park (Portland Timbers, Portland Thorns). Forest Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the USA, is nearby and offers numerous forested trails. We are just minutes from the Sunset Highway, which takes you 90 miles west to the stunning Oregon coast or 90 miles east to the forested slopes of Mount Hood. Just west of us lies the charming town of Beaverton, with plenty of dining and shopping opportunities. Our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, with very friendly neighbors.

Rebecca is teaching at a local high school while I'm an engineer working for one of the state's largest employers. We moved from Texas to the Pacific Northwest in 2020 and both have a long-developed love of travel and adventure. We've both been to Europe, though never together, and with her upcoming 2025 summer holidays and my sabbaticals think this is a golden opportunity to search for a home exchange.
