Marseille is an excellent place for visiting Provence, it is the oldest city in France and is very famous for her situatioh with the Calanques and her wonderful sea shore. The vieux port (old harbour) is well known and a nice place to make a walk at any time and from there you can go to the Mucem which is a great museum with the most beautiful views on both the town and the sea. Arles (80 km) is an antique city with many museums and monuments and a famous photo exhibition in summer. Avignon (80 km) with the famous "palais des papes" and a great festival of theater and dance. Aix-en-Provence (40 km) is a lovely city with many buildings of the XVIIIth century. Nice is only 2 hours by car and Toulon 1 hour. The Luberon and the Camargue, two natural areas, are only 1 hour by car. For more informations you can go on: http://www.marseillenet.com/ http://www.marseille-tourisme.com/en/
