Krefeld, Niemcy

We live in the centrally located district of Krefeld-Bockum. There are many beautiful old houses, a few restaurants, ice cream parlors, a children's playground, the zoo and a swimming pool nearby. In the old wholesale market area you will find some restaurants, interesting grocery stores and the culture ramp (Kulturrampe). Various events take place on the Sprödentalplatz, which is also within walking distance: 2x a year a fair, 4x a well-stocked "flea market" (without professional low-cost providers) and a regular circus is a guest.
We also like the historic district of Linn very much. It can be reached after a walk through the green belt and is recommended for its nice restaurants, a museum and, above all, Linn Castle. Whitsun there is a large 3-day craft market with medieval jousting around the castle, the so-called "Flachs-Markt". Then in September it's time for "Jazz on a Summer Evening".
The A57 motorway can be reached in 2 minutes, but there is also good public transport connections, as is the network of cycle paths.
As an old "velvet and silk city", Krefeld has pretty places. There is a nice weekly market on Fridays on the Ostwall. The city center has, among other things, pretty cafes, various shops, the jazz club and a great library.
The different parts of the city such as Fischeln, Hüls, Forstwald, Traar, Ürdingen and others also offer their special features: further weekly markets, swimming pools, cultural events, a glider airfield and wonderful landscapes.

If you only want to drive a few kilometers further, you will find countless museums, e.g. in Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne alone.
We like the "cultural metropolis Ruhr" (The megacity Ruhr with Essen, Oberhausen, Duisburg a.s.o) with the various offers in the old collieries, the gasometer, etc.
Then the Lower Rhine with its many smaller places, the Niers for hiking, cycling and paddling, is in the immediate vicinity.
There is so much to discover !!

Wir wohnen im zentral gelegenen Stadteil Krefeld-Bockum. Hier gibt es viele schöne alte Häuser, einige Restaurants, Eiscafes, einen Kinderspielplatz, den Zoo und ein Schwimmbad in der Nähe. Im alten Großmarktgelände finden Sie einige Restaurants, interessante Lebensmittelgeschäfte und die "Kulturrampe". Auf dem Sprödentalplatz der ebenfalls zu Fuß erreichbar ist, finden diverse Veranstaltungen statt: 2x im Jahr eine Kirmes, 4x ein gut bestückter "Trödelmäkte" (ohne pofessionelle Billiganbieter) und regelmäßig ist ein Zirkus zu Gast.
Wir mögen auch den historischen Ortsteil Linn sehr gerne. Es ist nach einem Spaziergang durch den Grüngürtel erreichbar und empfiehlt sich durch nette Restaurants, ein Museum und vor allem die Burg Linn. Pfingsten findet rund um die Burg ein großer 3tägiger Handwerkermarkt mit mittelalterlichen Ritterspielen statt, der sogenannte "Flachsmarkt". Im September dann ist es Zeit für "Jazz an einem Sommerabend".
Die Autobahn A57 ist in 2 Minuten erreicht, aber auch die Anbindung mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln ist gut, ebenso das Radwegenetz.
Krefeld hat als alte "Samt- und Seidenstadt" hübsche Plätze in der City. Auf dem Ostwall ist freitags ein schöner Wochenmarkt. Die Innenstadt hat u.a.hübsche Cafes, diverse Geschäfte, den Jazzclub und eine tolle Bibliothek.
Auch die verschiedenen Stadtteile wie Fischeln, Hüls, Forstwald,Traar, Ürdingen u.a. bieten noch ihre Besonderheiten: weitere Wochenmäkte, Schwimmbäder, Kulturveranstaltungen, ein Segelflugplatz und herrliche Landschaften.

Wer nur wenige Kilometer weiter fahren möchte, findet wirklich unzählige Museen, allein in Duisbur, Düsseldorf und Köln z.B.
Die "Kulturmetropole Ruhr" mit den verschiedenen Angeboten in den alten Zechen, dem Gasometer usw. gefällt uns gut.
Dann liegt auch der Niederrhein mit den vielen kleineren Orten, der Niers zum wandern, Rad fahren und paddeln in unmittelbarer Nähe.
