Bungalow in Connemara, close to Galway City, Ireland

We are offering our well maintained house in Moycullen (Maigh Cuilinn). It is a vibrant satellite town located approximately 10–12 km northwest of Galway City on the N59 road to Clifden. As a gateway to Connemara and nestled near the western shore of Lough Corrib, it offers a blend of rural charm and a strong community. South of the city is the world famous Burren.

Our house is a three bedroom bungalow with a study, kitchen and living room and is very comfortable with all modern conveniences. It has two bathrooms, one an en-suite shower room and the other with separate bath and shower. Although it is close to the village it is private & peaceful. There are views of Lough Corrib (famous fishing and boating lake - 8km away) from the living rooms and from the patio area to the rear of the house. There is a large garden (the plot is over 1/2 acre) with many trees to the front.
The world famous Burren is a short drive (1 hour) away.  The Aran Islands are easily accessible by plane or ferry. In Moycullen you have the benefit of being near all these natural amenities while still being only 10km from Galway city. Galway is a university town steeped in history. It is small but has all the benefits of a big city. It has theatres, golf courses, a swimming complex, a great variety of restaurants, pubs (many with traditional Irish music), many shopping centres and everything else you would expect from a vibrant city.

Long sections of the Wild Atlantic Way are easily accessible. Dublin is just 2.5 hours away on motorway and some previous exchangers have visited places as far apart as Donegal, The Giants Causeway, and Kerry.
We can assure you of a warm welcome and a memorable holiday if you come to Galway.

Couple in our 60s who enjoy travelling and discovering new places.

Haulie works as a psychologist, and Ann is a retired civil servant. We’ve recently become grandparents and love making trips to the UK whenever we can to spend time with the newest member of the family.

Over the years we’ve completed more than 20 home exchanges (some on other exchange websites) across Europe as well as in Canada, the United States, and Australia. It has been a little while since our last exchange, so we’re really looking forward to getting back into it.

Our interests are quite complementary: Haulie enjoys hill walking, while Ann likes short walks, reading and an occassional game of bridge. When we travel, we like a balance of exploring and relaxing. One of the real pleasures of home exchanging for us is the chance to spend the occasional day simply enjoying life “at home” in a different place.
