Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Cork -
Set in Cork Harbour, near to the sea with a beautiful cathedral and strong links to the famous Titanic and history of immigration from Ireland. Historical connections to the sinking of the Lusitania. A twenty minute train ride to Cork City, a university town with the wonderful old English Market providing fresh fish and produce. En route is the extraordinary Fota Wildlife Park (two train stops away) which is set on an island in the harbour, adjacent to the historical Fota House with an amazing arboretum, great walks and close to Fota Golf Club, once the site of the Irish Open Tournament.

Lifestyle
My family members love swimming, so having a pool or river swimming close to the exchange property would make it really special. Our house is about 220m from a swimming beach and 800m from the station which takes you to Cork City, where there are terrific restaurants along Mac Curtain street at the end of which is a famous pub Siné which has marvellous traditional music every evening. Visiting the OLD ENGLISH MARKET in Cork city is essential. There is the Jameson Whisky museum and tours in the nearby town of Midleton and in our town of Cobh a heritage Titanic Experience tour, as Cobh was the last port of call before the Titanic sank. The Titanic restaurant is built at the departure point and worth a visit. Kinsale is a gourmets delight and well worth a visit. West Cork leads to many beautiful towns and harbours all within easy reach and then on to Killarney and its lakes. There are walks in all of these areas and some lovely beaches along the way.
