Exeter, Gran Bretaña

**We have already agreed an exchange for summer 2026, but are open to UK trips in 2026 and longer offers for summer of 2027.*

Our home is a terraced house from 1930, bright and airy. On the ground floor there is a living room with a fireplace (wood burner), piano, tv, and large bay windows onto the front patio. Then there are the dining room and kitchen, divided by a kitchen island, and a separate utility room (with a sink, storage, washing machine and clothes dryer) and downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms (one is ours, the other our son's), a small office, and a family bathroom. The main bedroom bed is a King size, and in the second bedroom the two beds are 190x90cm. There is a decked area just outside of the kitchen, and a small garden just below it with access to the outside (small) car park. The living room includes a sofa bed that comfortably sleeps two people (200x150), but we have stated house capacity to 4 for comfort. The house has sun the whole day, with sunrise visible from the decked area in the back and sunset visible from the sofa in the living room. It is a lovely, homely house that we bought in the summer of 2025 and are slowly making ours. We will update pictures as we go!

The house is a 10 minutes’ walk from Exeter city centre, in a calm but well-connected neighbourhood. It has a small park for children two minutes away, and a bigger one 10min away (Belmont Park). We are 15min walk to the University, and about 30min to the Quayside, or a short drive. There is a small supermarket 3min away by foot, and three bigger ones 5-10min drive away. Exeter has a stunning gothic cathedral and all the main services of a small city, including the RAMM Museum, several cinemas and theatres, and high street with shops. The centre is small and walkable, and has many cafés and restaurants. By the river Exe is the beautiful Quayside, with restaurants, pubs and cafés as well as rental of bikes and paddles to explore the river and the canal. The walk along the river can take you all the way to Topsham, a lovely small village.

Exeter is in Devon, a beautiful region which boasts amongst the best coast and beaches in England and stunning nature. Within 50miles (80km) radius of Exeter there is the English Riviera, Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks, and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. Driving distance are the beautiful villages of Totnes, Dartmouth, Salcombe, all deserving a visit and excellent departure for hikes along the coast and inland. There are cultural sites to visit, including Powderham Castle and Buckland Abbey (home to Sir Francis Drake), as well as Agatha Christie's primary holiday home, Greenway, on the banks of the River Dart. Nearby there is Exmouth beach for quick day on the beach, and further afield Ness Cove in Shaldon (Torquay), Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Beer. Many of these villages are along the coastal path.

Cornwall and its fantastic beaches for surfing and stunning coastal paths are also nearby, from 1h drive onwards.

Bristol, Bath, Wells and Stonehenge are about 1h-2 hours’ drive (Bristol is 1h on the train), and there is a direct train to London Paddington (roughly 2h).

The closest airports are Exeter (20min by taxi) and Bristol (1,5h by bus or car). London Heathrow is well connected to Exeter via direct bus (3,5h from Heathrow's bus terminal) or by train via London Paddington.

The Southwest of England is a fantastic holiday destination, has a great food scene, as much sun as one can get in England. Temperatures are balmy in the summer, never over 28 C, depending on the year with plenty of sun or some rain, and you will possibly experience the British summer with all seasons in one day!
