Visit trendy and lovely Aarhus! House with great location and child friendly garden. Five minutes walk to the beach, 15 min. bike ride to Aarhus, Denmark's second city and former European Capital of Culture. And LEGOLAND is just 1,5 hours drive away.

La description en français (abrégé) se trouve au bas de la page :-)

Our house has a great location, a sunny, private and child friendly garden and only 5 min walk to a great beach. 15 mins on bike along the coast, your will find yourself in the centre of Aarhus, Denmark's second city. Aarhus hosts lots of attractions including the 3star attraction "The Old Town" (open-air museum of urban history in Denmark) https://www.visitaarhus.com/aarhus-region/plan-your-trip/den-gamle-old-town-museum-gdk631880 or https://www.dengamleby.dk/en/, the renowned MOMU (Moesgård Museum - https://www.moesgaardmuseum.dk/en/ and the AROS art museum http://en.aros.dk. Apart from this, Aarhus is just a cosy and lively city, which we are certain that you will enjoy :-)

We are a Danish-New Zealand couple with three children. Paul (58) works as a clinical psychologist, Eva (57) works as an organizational psychologist and researcher, and our oldest son David (19 years) loves working out, playing handball, going out with friends and gaming, Ruben (13 years) loves playing handball, gaming, swimming and jumping on the trampoline and Rebecca (13 years) loves seeing friends, gymnastics and dancing.

Our house lies in a very attractive, quiet residential area with all necessary amenities (supermarkets, park, play grounds, cafes, restaurants and various shops in close proximity). The house is 150m2 and has 4 bedrooms (beds are 1x180cm, 1x160, 1x120cm, 2x90 cm), 2 bathrooms and a living room. We have recently renovated/changed parts of the house (new kitchen, living room now with access to garden and new rooms for David, Ruben and Rebecca).

We have free Wifi and Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max etc. TV in in all bedrooms except master bedroom. Playstation in Ruben’s room. From the living room and Rebecca’s room there is direct access to a lovely, sunny garden with lots of beautiful plants, flowers, trees and bushes with various edible berries. We have an automatic irrigation system in the garden to take care of most of the watering if needed.

In summer you can sit in our outdoor couch and enjoy the sun - and a drink - from early afternoon to late evening. For the amusement of both children and adults, we also have a 4,5m x 4,5m trampoline in our garden.

The house lies in Risskov, which is generally considered the most attractive suburb in Aarhus given its proximity to the sea. https://aarhusinside.dk/risskov/
Just 300 meters down the road there are several nice restaurants with outdoor seating, a sushi bar, a burger bar, a juice bar (Joe and the Juice), a large bakery/cafe (Lagkagehuset) and a great ice cream bar (Okkels). The suburb also has several other restaurants (French cuisine, a sushi restaurants, and pizzerias) and several large supermarkets/grocery stores (LIDL, ALDI, Rema 1000, Føtex etc) as well as several clothes shops in close proximity.

Our local beach, Bellevue (see pictures), with clean water and white sand can be reached by foot in 7 minutes (2-3 minutes on bike). It’s great for swimming and safe for kids. Just next to the beach, you will find our local playground (see picture) and a large picnic area. There are outdoor training equipment just next to the playground so that kids can play while adults workout :-).
While you are here, you can also use the local school's playground - it's three minutes away.

If you like jogging or just enjoying a nice walk, the lovely Risskov Forest adjacent to the bay is just two kilometers away in the direction of the city center. If you love biking - Aarhus and surroundings are perfect - see videos at http://www.visitaarhus.com/ln-int/denmark/nature/aarhus-on-bike
We have three adult bikes, 5 children bikes (age 4-14 yrs), a Puky balance bikes (age 2-4 years) and a bicycle trailer (Dolphin) in which two children can sit comfortably (max 40 kgs together).

From our house in Risskov, it’s only a 15 minutes bicycle-ride along the bay (where you pass yet another beach) to the city center of Aarhus. Aarhus is Denmark's second city (population in inner urban area is approx. 260.000). The city centre has excellent opportunities for shopping and affords a number of cultural experiences, such as for example the famous Old Town and the Aros art museum. There are also numerous cafés and restaurants where you can eat or enjoy a nice beer or a latte. If you are fond of gastronomy, Aarhus has several restaurants which has been awarded a Michelin Star https://guide.michelin.com/dk/en/central-denmark/aarhus/restaurants
For more information on Aarhus and its surroundings visit the website: http://www.visitaarhus.com/

In case you are a family with teenagers or children in their twenties, Aarhus has lots of interesting cultural/musical events.Just a few kilometers south of Aarhus, the Marselisborg forest situated next to the coast, offers opportunities for walking, jogging, mountain biking or swimming. The forest also hosts the MOMU museum which is highly recommendable.

If you are a family with smaller or a little older children there are many childfriendly activities in Aarhus (see pictures). Moreover, a 30 mins. drive from Aarhus will get you to Djursland with its national park (https://eng.nationalparkmolsbjerge.dk/), beautiful beaches, two safari parks (see pictures), golf courses https://www.visitaarhus.com/areas-and-cities/djursland/see-and-do as well as the great amusement park Djurs Sommerland https://djurssommerland.dk/en/. (see also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZultgAFrxuc)
You can also visit the Randers rainforest (30 mins drive, see https://www.regnskoven.dk/en/) which has a total of three domes with plants and animals from Africa, Asia and South America. In Aalborg (approx an hour by car) you can visit the zoo on the way to the vild west coast :-).

The internationally renowned amusement park Legoland http://www.legoland.dk/en/ can be reached by car in 75 min. In Billund, you will also find the new LEGO house, which is worth a visit all year round (see https://www.legohouse.com/en-gb/?ignorereferer=false )

There is a high speed car ferry sailing from Aarhus to Sjælland (Sealand) several times a day. As such our beautiful capital Copenhagen can be reached in approx. 2½ hours (See http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen-tourist)

We live very close to the sea and during summer holidays, we also generally prefer to exchange our house with a house in relatively close proximity to the sea or with access to a swimming pool (preferably a private pool) or a lake in which one can swim. At other times than summer, we are open for other exciting exchanges :-).

Our previous exchanges have been:
Summer 2010: Spain - Tarragona area
Summer 2011: Germany - Stockach (Bodensee area)
Summer 2014: Spain - Costa Brava
Summer 2015: Germany - Hamburg
Summer 2016: Sweden - Stockholm
Summer 2018: Switzerland - Arbon (Bodensee area)
Summer 2021: The Netherlands - Almelo
Summer 2023: France - Aix en Provence
Summer 2024: Blois - France

Exchange 2025: Our preferred countries are listed (France is on top!), but we are certainly open for other possibilities!! We prefer to exchange with a house that has a great and fairly large garden and preferably a good, private swimming pool. Alternatively a location very near to the sea. Location not too far from a town/city with shopping possibilities is also appreciated :-).

If you are a family with smaller kids, we have everything you need for children age 2-8 :-) This also includes huge amounts of LEGO, BRIO (railway), play cars and clothes for dressing up :-)

NOTE: We are ONLY interested in houses with direct access to a private garden (not too small!). A trampoline would be great. Our house and garden are perfect for children. The garden is entirely surrounded by a fence and has a large sandpit, a handball goal, an outdoor playhouse/chillout house, a swing for two children and our favourite: A new, large Springfree trampoline (probably the safest trampoline one can get). During summer we also have a nice swimming pool in the front garden (see photos).

If we decide to change cars, our car is a 2012 Renault Grand Scenic.

Welcome to our house and beautiful Aarhus :-)

Lifestyle

We love travelling especially where we can combine nature experiences (for example walking or swimming) with culture experiences. We also love spending time in a wonderful private garden. Ruben loves being active so possibilities for swimming, playing football/handball and jumping on a trampoline is much appreciated. Rebecca also really enjoys the shopping opportunities that towns and cities offer.
During wintertime we love skiing (cross country and down hill).

Eva has had two horses and a dog. So we would also appreciate taking care of pets - in fact for Rebecca it would be fantastic :-)
