Paterswolde, best of two worlds : the vibrant city of Groningen and the nature of Drenthe
We live in Paterswolde, 10 km. south of the vibrant city of Groningen.
We just moved here from Groningen in January 2024.
We live in a nice bungalow with a big garden. Close to public transport, shops and restaurants, the Paterswoldse Meer (lake) for swimming and sailing. Perfect cycling opportunities.
Paterswolde is well known for its woods and estates. Just 2 min. from our house you can start walking!
From May till Spetember you can enjoy our private swimming pool.

We live in Paterswolde, 10 km. south of Groningen in the northern parts of the province Drenthe.
Groningen is the most important city in the northern part of the Netherlands. It has 200.000 inh., a beautiful old city-centre and a world-famous Museum of modern art.
End of August there is a very nice cultural festival (Noorderzon) with lots of music and theatre.
In the surroundings you can find lakes, forests, the Wadden-islands and beautiful agricultural landscapes of the provinces Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe.
Eelde-Paterswolde is a fairly sized village with all the shops and restaurants you need.
There is a lovely museum (De Buitenplaats) and perfect possibilities for walking and cycling and also swimming and sailing at the Paterswoldse Meer (lake), just 1,8 km. from our house.
From Paterswolde (busstop at 500 m.) there is a direct bus (line 9) to Groningen and (line 50) to Assen.
From / to Amsterdam (Schiphol airport) there are direct trains from Groningen and Assen (about 2 - 2,5 hrs.).
The Netherlands is more than only Amsterdam. You could visit Amsterdam and stay in Groningen - Paterswolde afterwards to experience the Netherlands as it really is!

Nice house with a lovely garden in the outskirts of Bordeaux. Good public transport and supermarkets nearby. Friendly hosts, they even took us from the railway station and presented us a lovely lunch before departing to our house! Correct description and photos!
Belle maison très agréable à vivre, correspondant en tout point à la description faite sur le site, proche des commerces et située dans une petite ville calme et verdoyante. Nous avons retrouvé avec plaisir notre maison telle que nous l'avions confiée à Wiepke et Kor qui sont des hôtes tout à fait charmants, et que nous recommandons aux adhérents d'Intervac .
We loved the house in Groningen, really comfortable. It is very well situated for the town and all that it has to offer. Attractions, parks, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants are all close at hand. We were made very welcome at the local Parkrun - a UK export of a free 5 km run. And we really enjoyed being able to cycle around the local countryside too.

We retired from a lifelong career in teaching (Wiepke 72 and Kor 68). Our two daughters live in Driebergen (NL) and London.
We like to travel and have seen a lot of the world, but there are always nice countries and more cities to visit.
We are since long Intervac-members and we were never disappointed.
One of our daughters lives/works in London.
We like to visit her on a regular basis, so an exchange with London (or surroundings) would be welcome any time of the year.
Voor korte schoolvakanties, lange weekeinden staan we open voor alle voorstellen, ook binnen Nederland.
We are also interested in (short) exchanges with European cities (Hamburg, Berlin, Wien, Paris etc.),
long weekends or schoolholidays.
