There is also a treadmill beside that chair. Not attractive but does the job.

2 weeks

A waterfront estate in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec.

You will find photos of our home and prperty on this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ivkQsLrpXfE87UtA7

My husband and I own a 100-year-old historic property on Lac des Sables, a magnificent lake in the Laurentian Mountains, one hour north of Montreal. The house is set on a private two-acre property with its own lovely waterfall whose soothing sounds put you to sleep. The house has a magnificent view of the lake that never ceases to take our breath away. We have no real neighbours since the house is on it's own private peninsula. It is an oasis of tranquillity that is beautiful in every season.

The house offers five bedrooms, four with lakeview and a door directly onto the deck. The master bedroom has its own private bath and there are two more bathrooms as well. The house is ideal for relaxing with friends and family as it is spacious enough to accommodate a large group.

Upstairs is one enormous room consisting of kitchen with its own sitting room, bar and entertaining area, dining room and living room. What makes this property so spectacular are the large picture windows with views of the lake in all its splendor in all the seasons. Just sitting and watching it sparkle in the sun (as I am now) is admittedly one my favourite activities.

Our magnificent lake is hugged all along its perimeter by our gentle Laurentian Mountains. The lake, called Lac des Sables, is famous for its lovely sandy beaches and numerous water sports (kayaking, canoeing, waterskiing). There is also fishing which can be accomplished straight off our dock if one is so inclined.

The breathtaking route around the lake (7 miles) called "tour de lac" is a favourite amongst hikers and bikers alike as one can stop for a stroll and a cafe au lait in our charming village called Ste. Agathe with its abundant terraced cafes and eateries.

There are glorious hiking trails in the mountains straight from our house as well as cross-country skiing trails for winter fun.

As you can tell, we are in the heart of a resort area where people come to relax all year round. We feel blessed to be so close to our holiday house which is only a 50-60 minute away from Montreal or its airport. Our exchange families always felt right at home since although they were in the country, they also had every convenience imaginable from shopping and outlet shopping to dining in one of the many charming villages that dot the area such as Val David and Saint Sauveur, each with its own lovely shops, cafes, and restos.

Forty minutes from the house is the famous Mont Tremblant village which is a skiiers paradise. Whether you are a sport afficianado or prefer to curl up on a hammock with a good book, our lakeside sanctuary in the mountains offers something for everyone. That is why my family has been vacationing there for generations!

You can get a feel for our village of Ste Agathe des Monts at this link: https://www.ville.sainte-agathe-des-monts.qc.ca/fr/tourisme-information.php

Just google Lac Des Sables and have a look at the beautiful photos of our beaches.

The world-class ski village of Mont Tremblant is a mecca for tourists all year round.

Also google the charming villages of St. Sauveur and Val David.

The Laurentian Mountain holiday region (beginning just 40 minutes from Montreal) are literally dotted with charming villages every ten minutes or so from each other. Village-hopping by car or by bicycle on the famous Petit Train de Nord bike trail is a must-do.

There is wonderful outlet shopping in St Sauveur (https://www.tangeroutlet.com/saintsauveur) and at Mirabel (http://www.premiumoutlets.com/montrealpremiumoutlets)

About Our Family

I am a screenwriter and my husband is a dentist. Our children are grown. Our daughter designs children's books for Random House in New York. Our son is an entertainment attorney. When the children were younger we loved to house exchange and our exchanges abroad are truly our most magical memories. (I recently renewed my Intervac membership which is why the form specifies 0 exchanges whereas I in fact made 4.) These days my husband and I are travelling solo, and we would very much love to return to our beloved France and Italy. We would be delighted, however, to consider all offers as we love to travel. We are a rather quiet bunch and as I am a neat freak so that helps set others' minds at ease.

Lifestyle

The Laurentian Mountains offer a wealth of activity in all 4 seasons. Swimming and boating in the summer; leaf-peeping and glorious hikes in the Autumn when our mountains are ablaze with color; winter for the glorious skiing and particularly the cross-country trails just minutes from our house; and spring when we celebrate the greening of the mountains.
