Beautiful family house in the centre of THE HAGUE, Netherlands
We have a beautiful 4 bedroom family house near the centre of The Hague in a very pleasant residential area, next to the beautiful Park Clingendael. Local grocery shops and some nice restaurants are on walking distance. We live close to the beach of Scheveningen. The Hague is just 30-45 min. drive from Amsterdam and close to the old Dutch cities of Delft and Leiden.
We live in a pleasant and large house with a nice garden, where we can relax, have dinner or BBQ and spend our weekends and evenings. We have 2 boys (14,16) that can play in our garden (with trampoline!) or in Park Clingendael.
We also own a vegetable garden in the Clingendael Park, where you can enjoy fresh season vegetables!
Our home has three floors.
The ground floor has a hall with separate toilet and a large living room that is divided in a sitting area and a dining area. The dining area is connected to a fully equiped NEW kitchen. Our kitchen and living room both give access to our nice garden. The garden is equipped with a sitting, lounge and dining area with a gas fired BBQ.
The first floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, toilet and separate shower. The masterbedroom has a double bed and a balcony overlooking the garden. The other bedroom is on the front side of the house and has a singel bed and a double sofabed.
The second floor has 2 children bedrooms and a second bathroom with shower and toilet. The front bedroom has a singel bed, sleeping 1. The other room is a study and and give acces to the roof terrace. Acamping cot for babies/toddlers available.
We live close to the city centre of The Hague (2-3 km), the beach (Scheveningen 4 km), the highway (Amsterdam is just a half hour to 45 min. drive). You can easily visit the historical cities of Leiden (university town) and Delft (delftware and Vermeer). Rotterdam with its famous harbour and Blijdorp Zoo is just a 20 minutes drive away. The Hague has a lot to offer, musea, numerous restaurants, culture, parks etc, for more details see the Neighbourhood section. It's a very suitable city for children with the beach nearby and lots of parks, public swimming pools and playgrounds.
We have a house cleaner who comes once a week. Our 4 bikes are available (this is a wonderful biking town). We can arrange a parking permit for our street, or else you can park for free a few blocks away. Public transport: The Hague city centre and Scheveningen beach can easily be reached by bus. Also The Hague Central Station or Holland Spoor railway stations from where trains depart to Amsterdam, Amsterdam Schiphol airport, Leiden, Delft, Rotterdam etc.

Information about The Hague:
The Hague, the city of justice, is the seat of the Dutch government and parliament, but not the capital of the Netherlands (that´s Amsterdam). The Palace of King Willem Alexander is not so far from our house and you can walk there, a nice stroll!
The Hague includes two distinct beach resorts: Scheveningen (a popular destination for tourists (children) as well as for inhabitants) and Kijkduin. Also the more remote beaches near Wassenaar are close.
Museums:
- Madurodam is a miniature city, containing hundreds of scale-models of Dutch landmarks in a typically Dutch miniature landscape. 10 minutes by bike from our house, children will enjoy this.
- The Mauritshuis exhibits many paintings by Dutch masters, such as Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn and Paulus Potter.
- The Escher Museum is located in the former Royal Palace on the Lange Voorhout. Very nice for children
- Museum Gevangenpoort (lit. the "Prison Gate") is a former prison housed in a 15th century gatehouse, with genuine mediaeval dungeons and torture chambers.
- The Gemeentemuseum (Municipal museum) is home to the world’s largest collection of works by the Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan as well as other modern art.
- Panorama Mesdag houses a cylindrical 360° "panoramic" painting, 14 meters high by 120 meters long,
Annual events:
- July: Jazz in de Gracht is an intercultural two-day event hosting Jazz groups which perform their music on flat-bottom boats and in bars in various places between Passantenhaven and Zuidwal.
- July & August: The city hosts a series of weekly firework displays by the sea front in Scheveningen, as part of an international fireworks festival and competition.

ES52367The house has turned out to be much more welcoming and spacious than we thought. It is also located in a very quiet and well-connected neighborhood by train and the center of the city. The Konings family was very careful and friendly with us, providing detailed transport information, places to visit, places for shopping ... an excellent expericence!
