House in Canterbury, Great Britain
Our house is large and comfortable on a quiet road 10 minutes walk from the centre of Canterbury. London is 55 minutes away on a high speed train. The sea is 20 minutes drive away. When our children were small, we had 3 wonderful (pre-internet!) exchanges - to Italy in 1993 and 1994 and Paris in 1997, More recently we have had fantastic exchanges to Bruges (2008), Berlin (2011), Rome (2013), Paris (2014 and 2015), Marseille (2015), Rome again (2017) and Denmark (2017).
Our house is Edwardian and semi-detached. It has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All the rooms are large. The south facing back garden, 115 ft long by 28 ft wide, is very private, backing onto a not very busy railway line in a cutting. There are lots of mature trees, a lawn and a private patio with two tables and lots of garden benches. Our shed is quite decorative and is covered by a giant wisteria which also runs along the back of the house. We have solar panels on our roof.

Canterbury is a pleasant small city with the cathedral at its heart with its wonderful stained glass, cloisters, crypt and chapter house. There is also St Augustine's Abbey and boat trips on the river. We are close to the sea - and one photo shows the sunset at Whitstable, and anothe shows the old ruined church by the sea at Reculver.
The countryside round Canterbury is beautiful with many excellent walks. Dover with its White Cliffs and castle is very close and so is France. London is 55 minutes away by train.
