A lovely 200 year old Edinburgh house 50 yards from the beach and yet very close to the historic city centre of Edinburgh. We also have a cottage in the Scottish borders which may be available to use.
Portobello is a lovely friendly seaside community 20 minutes bus or cycle ride from the centre of Edinburgh. Our house is a great place to relax after sightseeing in Edinburgh, visiting the international festival or heading to the countryside for day trips. It is an old Georgian house that has had an architects extension added in 2018, combining the old with the new. We are a family of 5 - 3 children aged 11, 14 and 15 and with 4 bedrooms (2 double and 2 single) and 3 public rooms it has plenty of space for families.

Portobello is a lovely seaside town with cafes, bars, parks, swimming pool and Turkish baths and shops including a bookshop. There is a long promenade which you can walk, skate or cycle along and the sea of course you can swim in. Portobello is perfect for visiting the Scottish capital Edinburgh by bus, by bike (20mins) or even walking in through the royal Holyrood park. Also close by to lovely walks and hikes in East Lothian. Ideally placed to get to the Scottish Borders or Highlands within a couple of hours.
Edinburgh is a very historic town, a world heritage site with its castle, the Palace of Holyrood, the Scottish Parliament and our extinct volcano Arthur’s seat right in the city capital. There is plenty to do and of course the famous Edinburgh Fringe and Edinburgh Arts Festival. Wander up and down the Royal Mile, plenty of art galleries and tours of haunted Edinburgh and climb up Arthur’s seat with a picnic to take in views of the city.
