Cute Cottage in Historic Neighborhood in Echo Park Near Downtown Los Angeles

Cottage living on a compound in historic Angelino Heights, minutes from downtown Los Angeles, in the hip, walkable Echo Park and Silver Lake neighborhoods, close to public transportation and nightlife. Easy commute/drive to Hollywood, Universal City, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. The cottage is 400 sq, with kitchen, queen bed, spacious bathroom with spa tub, has a comfortable couch for sleeping and a Castro Convertible ottoman that converts to a single bed. The cottage is a "tiny house," and feels fun, a bit like glamping, especially with three outdoor (two are private) areas to relax in. There is no stove, but the following kitchen appliances: Waring Pro electric hot plate, microwave, Nutribullet, Cuisinart blender and mini chopper and a toaster oven, along with a french press, a Keurig and an espresso machine. And you have use of our gas grill in the rear patio area. The bathroom has a large, 6 ft spa style tub for soaking, with a hand-held shower wand, no stand-up shower.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Burbank or LAX -

Echo Park is one of the coolest, walkable neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Full of fun restaurants, live music venues (the Rolling Stones played the local Echo Plex), and cute shops, Echo Park is literally minutes from downtown LA, Dodger Stadium, the Arts District, Chinatown, Silver Lake (another hipster enclave full of cute shops and restaurants), and mass transportation.
There are at least five large city and state parks close by, and exactly one mile away is a great city pool for lap and recreational swimming.
Beverly Hills is 45 minutes away on surface streets. The Hollywood Bowl and Universal City are about 20-30 minutes drive in traffic, and easily accessed via public transportation.
Terrific museums like the Broad and MOCA, are minutes away.

About Our Family

Hi, I live in the cottage and manage a historic compound owned by Robert, my domestic partner, who lives in the carriage house next door. On the property is a Queen Anne Victorian home, built in 1894, my cottage, the carriage house, a Craftsman-style fourplex, assorted garages, a greenhouse, with several outdoor areas for true Southern California living.
The property has been in the family since 1954. My partner is a retired artisan who upcycled and repurposed vintage, architectural salvage into home and garden decor and you will see evidence of this on the property. We love flowers and fruit trees and cohabitate with our senior standard poodle, named Cocoa.
Someone is on the property all the time and sometimes there are spontaneous gatherings with wine and music.
I'm a writer and speaker, Robert is retired.
