We will be in South Africa earlier in 2019. We haven't really started planning for the second half of the year. Usually we don't go in the northern winter but the autumn is a good time for us. Length of stay varies a lot as to location and what else we might be doing in that part of the world. Cheers — Ian and Ardsley

Comfortable, stylish apartment in the "inner east" of Sydney

Our home is in a quiet lane, but close to everything anyone would want when visiting Sydney. We offer 2 bedrooms, each having a double bed. However, there is capacity for a queen-sized blowup mattress in our attic office, in order to sleep 2 extra people. The house has one bathroom/toilet with shower/bathtub. Our dining table is the centre of our kitchen. We have a deck, which is one of our favorite places to sit and read. The deck also has a Bar B Q, a must for any Sydney house. We have a parking space on site for our car which is available in the exchange.
We love it and hope you will as well!

The Sydney winter isn't really harsh and the weather's generally pleasant. It's great for touring the city on foot and for bushwalking. And the ski slopes are not too far away. It's lovely skiing amongst the orange-barked Eucalyptus trees!

Our neighborhood
We live in Darlinghurst, an inner city suburb of Sydney. Many people call it "trendy", but we think of it as convenient, fun and stimulating. Our place is about a 20 minute walk from downtown and about a wonderful 45 minute walk to the Opera House and the Rocks. Buses are 2 minutes away if you don't have time to walk. In the immediate area are many fine restaurants and cafes, two wonderful art cinemas, several small theatres, and huge Centennial Park is only minutes away for bike riding, walking, running and picnicking. Shopping is easy with or without a car and includes supermarkets as well as Saturday farmers markets and good produce/deli type shops. Oh, and fabulous gelato.

About Our Family

We are a retired couple in our 60s who love Sydney but also enjoy travel, especially now that we have more time. Besides filling our time with travel, Ian is a very active volunteer for many diverse organisations and Ardsley is currently contemplating what's next after years of employment. We enjoy where we live in Sydney because you can walk to the harbour and to the city, to many restaurants of a myriad of ethnicities, to the two art cinemas and various shopping precincts. Public transportation is also nearby. Though travel is important to us, there is nothing like coming home to Sydney and its environment.
